Honda Civic 4-Door Saloon Coming to UK Market

Honda UK announced on Friday that the new four-door saloon version of its Civic will be available in the United Kingdom on August and is likely to carry a small price premium over the hatchback.

The version, built in Turkey, will be available in both petrol and diesel powertrains. The Civic will be manufactured at the firm’s Gebze plant in Turkey, Unlike the British-built hatchback.

The car will use the same 128bhp 1.0-litre i-VTEC three-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit, which can b paired with a six-speed manual or CVT gearbox; and 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engines with the same choice of manual transmission or a nine-speed automatic.

Phil Webb, head of car at Honda UK, commented, “The Civic is a core model for Honda in Europe and has been at the heart of the brand’s strong sales and manufacturing heritage, with the hatchback built in Swindon. The arrival of the saloon to the UK market compliments the Civic family and will be a great addition to our showrooms alongside what is already a very successful range for Honda.”

All Eyes on the Features

The saloon is much longer than the standard hatchback and it offers a more conventional look and design— the rear end is more restrained offers a largest boot separated from the cabin, in particular.

The all-new Civic saloon is contemplated as wider, longer, and lower than any of the company’s previous models. The saloon has a short front overhang and taut lines; it also shares a platform, which Honda stated it gives the model a ‘class-leading interior space’.

However, it still remains instantly recognizable even with its more aggressive appearance— thanks to its similar front fascia.

Furthermore, its lower seating position makes the automobile appealing to potential buyers, and its extra space makes it family-friendly.

Overall features and pricing are yet to be announced in the car’s launch in summer. The model range is likely to mirror the hatch with SE, SR, EX Sport, Sport Plus, and Prestige specifications, and the price may start between £18,895 to £20,000.

The automobile is already on sale in the US and in other international markets.
